Day Two: Scenic flights and big sights
Today you’ll see two of Rio’s most iconic sights: Corcovado and Sugar Loaf. Starting with the former, you’ll drive past the city’s famous beaches towards national park, ready to board the cogwheel train that climbs up Corcovado Mountain to the famous Christ The Redeemer statue. Disembark to walk the final flight of stairs towards the statue, for breathtaking views of forest segueing to glittering water. After breaking for lunch (your guide can help with recommendations), it’s on to the next part of your adventure; an afternoon cablecar ride up Sugar Loaf. Stop at 170m to appreciate the view of Botafogo Bay with a Caipirinha in hand, then it’s time to board a helicopter for a scenic flight over the mountain. Pass over the famous beaches of Praia Vermelha, Copacabana and Ipanema for birds eye views of the Cidade Maravilhosa. Afterwards, continue your cablecar trip up the mountain, returning to your hotel by around 5pm to dress up in costume or Black Tie. Tonight, you have tickets to the official ball of the Carnival, the Copacabana Ball. Set in the luxury surrounds of the famous Belmond Copacabana Hotel, this is one of the most exclusive events in Rio’s calendar. Soak up the entertainment, costumes and atmosphere, with food and drink provided.

Day Three: Parade prep
Recover from your late night with a leisurely day, because this evening brings another tour highlight – Carnival Parade. At 8pm, you’ll be driven to the Sambadrome, a specially-built area where the samba schools join their competitive parade. Each of the 12 schools try to out do each other with throngs of people (up to 5,000 per school) and floats which soar up to 15 metres. Soak up the music, views and electric atmosphere with a seat on the bleachers, alongside thousands more carnival fans.

Day Four: Dancing in the street
After a much-needed lie-in, it’s time to start the party again as you tour Carnival’s street parades with your private guide. Two million people per day hit the streets during Carnival. Over the course of four hours, you’ll see the best blocos (neighbourhood street bands) rousing the crowds with a heady mix of music and dance. Join in with costumed revellers as your guides takes you safely through the best of Rio’s street parties – from Ipanema’s laid-back, beach vibe to secret local parties in crowded colonial plazas. Afterwards, you driver will take you back to your hotel.
